KEY FINDINGS:
The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reports that arts and cultural production accounts for $1,519,022,000 and 1.9% of the West Virginia economy, contributing 15,725 jobs.
Comparing Arts and Culture to Other Sectors of the Economy
Arts and cultural Value Added in West Virginia ranked 6th among the comparison sectors. Comparison industries are selected industry categories using the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) drawn from BEA's 2019 state level data for employment (full-time and parttime workers), compensation and value added by industry. The comparisons are not mutually exclusive—arts and culture includes, for example, portions of other sectors such as construction and retail trade.

These industries range from core arts and cultural production to industries supporting arts and cultural activities.
